FlashNote — Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 28, 2025

Overview

FlashNote is a browser extension that provides a lightweight side-panel for taking notes, saving highlighted text from pages, and optionally syncing highlights to Telegram when a user connects their account. This policy explains what information FlashNote collects, how it is used, and the controls available to users.

Data we collect

Highlights & notes — When you highlight text and save it through the extension, that highlighted text and any note you add are stored locally in the browser's storage by default.

Notes — When you save a note through the extension, that note is stored locally in the browser's storage by default.

Telegram sync (optional) — If you explicitly connect FlashNote to your Telegram account, selected highlights or notes will be sent to Telegram on your instruction. FlashNote does not collect your Telegram credentials; the connection uses the standard Telegram login/authorization flow that you initiate.

Reminders — When you set a reminder for a note, the reminder is stored locally in the browser's storage by default.

No automatic personal data collection — FlashNote does not collect names, email addresses, passwords, payment data, health data, or any other sensitive personal information unless you explicitly provide such information in a note or during an optional account/authorization flow.

In short: we only store what you explicitly save or sync.

How data is stored

By default, saved highlights and notes are stored locally in your browser using the extension's storage (e.g., chrome.storage.local or equivalent). They are not uploaded to our servers unless you enable a sync feature that sends content to Telegram or another service you authorize.

If you use Telegram sync, the extension will POST or send the selected content to your Telegram chat via the Telegram Bot/authorization you configure. That data will be handled by Telegram according to Telegram's privacy policies.

What we do NOT do

Third-party services

FlashNote may integrate with third-party services (for example, Telegram for syncing). Those services are governed by their own privacy policies. When you choose to connect FlashNote to a third-party service, you are responsible for reviewing and accepting that service’s terms and policies.

Permissions & why we request them

FlashNote requests only the permissions required to deliver its functionality. Brief explanations you can reuse for submission forms:

User choices & controls

You can manage and delete saved notes at any time from the side panel UI. If you connected Telegram and want to stop syncing, you can disconnect Telegram from the extension settings — this will stop further transmissions. To remove all local data, use the extension's "Clear all notes" function or uninstall the extension (browser storage will be removed on uninstall).

Data retention

Notes saved locally remain until you delete them or uninstall the extension. If you sync notes to Telegram, retention is controlled by Telegram and your chat history settings on that platform.

Security

We follow standard best practices to protect user data stored locally. Because data is stored on the user's device by default, its security also depends on the device and browser security settings. We encourage users to secure their devices with system-level protections.

Children

FlashNote is not intended for use by children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personally identifiable information, please contact us and we will take steps to remove that information.

Legal & compliance (GDPR/CCPA)

If you are in the EU or applicable jurisdiction and would like to request access, correction, or deletion of data stored by FlashNote, please contact us at the address below. We will respond to valid requests in accordance with applicable law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be posted with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes implies acceptance of the updated policy.
